When you purchase tickets to support Chisholm Services, you…

…help Chisholm purchase things like outdoor play items to boost confidence, motor skills and physical play.  Help to renovate a space so that is safe, bright, and functional; where our children learn how it feels to prepare healthy meals with safe adults.  It could also sponsor a child in the community who needs support to read at grade level but whose family must choose between food security or tutoring.

Don’t miss out on the chance to win incredible prizes while supporting local children!

The winners will be contacted to claim their prizes.

At Chisholm we often say “Every child at Chisholm has a story and it is a privilege to be part of their story. You may never know our children, but you are an important part of their story as well!” Thank you so much for your time and consideration!

Paddle to Sable: Bringing Adventure Back to all Children & Youth

Jan-Sebastian La Pierre and Graham Carter will be paddling to Sable Island in August 2013 to raise funds and awareness about the need for adventure in helping to lead a full and active lifestyle.  Their cause will directly benefit youth and children who are facing mental health issues or terminal illness and have not had access to adventure and recreational opportunities.  Their mission is to paddle, under human power alone, from mainland Nova scotia to Sable Island; 175 kms offshore. All of the money raised in the Paddle to Sable Island Campaign will go directly to both Chisholm Services for Children and Brigadoon Children’s Camp Society for outdoor adventure and camp programs. For more information and to make donations, visit their web-site paddle2sable.ca

Chisholm will be selling raffle tickets for the beautiful quilt donated by Verna Boutilier. Verna and her daughter Ann shared the story of the quilt which was originally hand made by Verna and passed to her daughter Ann. Ann was so touched by the intricate hand embroidery and hand quilt work by her mother, that she returned it to her as a gesture of her love.  The quilt is truly a quilt of their love for each other. In recognizing the importance of the quilt to both of them, Verna and Ann made a decision to donate the quilt to an organization that may benefit in some way to raise funds.  Chisholm was their charity of choice. We are so please to have received this important quilt and will be looking at ways to help raise funds from the raffle of the quilt…for the love of the children.

Ticket sales begin on April 22, 2013 and run through until May 10, 2013 when the quilt will be raffled off for Mother’s Day.  Tickets are $5.00 each or three for $10.00 and can be purchased by contacting the central office at 423-9871. Chisholm will also be at Halifax Shopping Centre on May 3 (11-2) and Park Lane May 8, 9, 10 (11-2).

Freeman’s Little New Yorker location in Fairview hosted an auction in support of children who will be living at Chisholm during Christmas.  This was the second annual auction hosted by Freeman’s in Fairview and raised over $1,300 to make the children’s Christmas a little bit brighter.  Thank you to Lisa, Bill the auctioneer, the staff and patrons of Freemans and to all of those who came out to support the event.

November 17, 2012

In support of Chisholm Services for Children, Chisholm Foundation for Children hosted a tea and book reading fundraising event on November 17. The authors of Mermaid Glass, a children’s story about a beach where children come to play, read from the book and personally signed individual copies. The story was inspired by John Stailing and developed by Gwen Bennett Hannaford, and written by Hal Mooney. Tea sales were supplied by Bigelow® Tea.

During the book signing, members from the Chisholm team were available to provide an opportunity for those in attendance to learn a bit more about the service offered by Chisholm. The event was truly a wonderful afternoon and could not have been made possible without the support of the authors as well as Bigelow® Tea, and RBC who also made a donation of $2,500 to Chisholm for the “After School Tutoring Program”.
