Annual General Meeting: June 16th, 2015 — Community Heart Award Recipient
Wade Johnston (Executive Director) Liz Ingram-Chambers (Community Heart Recipient) JoAnne McGillivray (Board Chairperson)
The Community Heart Award is a public recognition of a community collaborator that is involved in the service we provide for children, and who we rely upon in delivering a community based service for children.
The award recognizes an organization or a member of the community that aligns with Chisholm’s vision of service and standard of care, and who has demonstrated a commitment to enhancing the overall service for the children at Chisholm.
Recipients of the Community Heart Award resonates with the vision of Chisholm Services for Children which supports every child in its care to find hope when their situation seems hopeless, find value in respecting others and be respected in return, feel dignified when their dignity is challenged, feel a sense of belonging and safety in their own community, and build the capacity to trust in themselves and others.
It is my pleasure to recognize Liz Ingram-Chambers of Le Bistro by Liz restaurant. Liz and her team at Le Bistro by Liz have been involved and supporting Chisholm since 2013. The relationship with Liz began with Le Bistro’s support of Bind date with a Star the signature fund raising event for Chisholm. Liz very graciously has offered Le Bistro as a venue each year for the event. The first year while meeting with Liz about participating and telling Liz about Chisholm and the program she immediately offered to send a pot of soup with baguettes to the children and she has continued every week since. Liz and her team at LeBistro have as well been Very generous at Christmas with donations of clothing and Christmas items!
These contributions are truly exemplary of the defining characteristics of the Community heart award and Liz your philanthropy in support of Chisholm is graciously appreciated.
I would like to ask Liz Ingram-Chambers to come forward and accept the Community Hear Award for 2015. Thank you Liz so very much for your generosity and kindness to Chisholm!

For the Love of the Children
In December of 2012 Verna Boutilier and her daughter Ann Thompson came to Chisholm to donate a handmade quilt to help with fundraising. Verna and Ann shared the story of the quilt which was originally hand made by Verna and passed to her daughter Ann. Ann was so touched by the intricate hand embroidery and hand quilt work by her mother, that she returned it to her as a gesture of her love. The quilt is truly a quilt of their love for each other. In recognizing the importance of the quilt to both of them, Verna and Ann made a decision to donate the quilt to an organization that may benefit in some way to raise funds. Chisholm was their charity of choice. We are so please to have received this important quilt and will be looking at ways to help raise funds from the raffle of the quilt…for the love of the children.
