RECREATION NOVA SCOTIA APPLAUDS CHISHOLM SERVICES FOR CHILDREN
At the Recreation Nova Scotia Awards Dinner and Ceremony on October 25th, Chisholm Services for Children was presented with the 2012 HIGH FIVE® Nova Scotia Achievement Award for the organization’s commitment to recreation, wellness, and overall healthy child development.
“We were thrilled to have registered as a HIGH FIVE® Organization earlier this year, and are humbled to have now been recognized for the work our staff and supervisors have done to incorporate the HIGH FIVE® principles into our programming,” said Wade Johnston, Executive Director of Chisholm Services for Children. “In addition to our staff’s dedication, I would like to also thank the TELUS Atlantic Canada Community Board for their generous support of this initiative.”
The TELUS Atlantic Canada Community Board awarded a grant to Chisholm that provided the funding necessary to train its team members and to implement HIGH FIVE® in Chisholm’s residential program for children. Chisholm has already trained two supervisors as HIGH FIVE® Trainers this year as well as approximately 80% of their youth care workers in the Principles of Healthy Child Development. The entire team and the children supported by Chisholm have been busy with sport and recreational activities on a daily basis, steered by the HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development.
“The HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development support Chisholm’s child-centered care philosophy, and we are committed to training all of our front line staff in the Principles,” said Stacy McRae, Director of Clinical Services at Chisholm Services for Children. “We are delighted to be building programs for our children that will meet and hopefully exceed the HIGH FIVE® Standard of Quality.”
